About DMR (Digital Mobile Radio)

DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) is a radio system for two-way mobile radio communications that operates according to the European standard. It is a very good successor to analog two-way radio devices, as it works in such a way that existing analog radio stations do not have to be discarded, but can still operate in the DMR radio system. The TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology that the DMR radio system uses allows for two logical channels with a frequency spacing of 12.5 kHz between channels. Two voice connections, two data connections, or one voice and one data connection can be transmitted simultaneously over the logical channels. In layman's terms - with the introduction of the DMR radio system, we have twice as many radio channels available as we had with the analog radio system.

DMR radio stations are designed so that they can be programmed for use in DMR and in the analog radio network. However, it should be emphasized that using a DMR radio system for analog communications requires the use of the entire channel – both logical channels are “overlaid”. Although the price of DMR radio stations is slightly higher than the price of analog radio stations, it makes sense to expand their number only with DMR stations.

FT8

Programs such as FT8, FT4, PSK, JT65, JT9, JTDX, T10 and others are used as digital connections.

There is also a code of conduct in digital connections to avoid unnecessary confusion and thus enable everyone to make the desired connection.

Brandmeister

The Brandmeister Network was born from several worldwide hams and software engineers who joined together to create a digital repeater network consisting of master servers and peer repeaters all over the world. The network has over 1300 repeaters and more than 3000 hotspots across the globe and it’s growing every day!

Brandmeister is tailored to the Motorola TRBO technology and allows for DMR repeaters to connect worldwide via the internet and link systems together by utilizing organized Talkgroups.

The Brandmeister Network offers several neat features for amateur radio enthusiasts to take advantage of:

Private Call
Talkgroups
APRS
SMS Text Messaging
D-Star Gateway
Echolink Gateway
Autopatch Call Gateway
Roaming via Hytera Equipment
and more…

Many people can communicate at the same time, without stepping on each other. Traffic actually gets routed specifically between, radios, repeaters and locations.
